Issy's Guide to South Wiltshire
As we’ve recently settled into our new warehouse nestled in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, I thought I’d share some of my favourite spots to explore in the area. Whether you’re in the mood for art, nature, delicious food, or a bit of local charm, here are my top recommendations for a perfect day out in South Wiltshire.
Gallery: Messums West
Set in a breathtaking 13th-century Tithe Barn, Messums West is a haven for art enthusiasts. While they also have a location in London, the Wiltshire gallery offers a serene, art-filled retreat. Currently, there’s a fantastic exhibition running — Tessa Campbell Fraser: Whales – A Deeper Dialogue - on until 13 Jan' 25. A must-see if you’re nearby!
Restaurant: Sprigs Co.
Formerly known as Pythouse Kitchen Garden, Sprigs Co. is a delightful walled garden restaurant that embraces sustainable gardening and cooking. While you’re there, don’t miss their signature Sprigster, a non-alcoholic botanical infusion that I can’t get enough of.
Walks: Stourhead
For nature lovers, Stourhead is an absolute gem. This stunning National Trust estate is a perfect spot for a peaceful walk. I always leave feeling refreshed and inspired by its breathtaking landscapes — no wonder it was a filming location for Pride and Prejudice!
Place to Visit: Shaftesbury
Straddling the Wiltshire-Dorset border, the charming town of Shaftesbury is known for its famous Gold Hill and sweeping views. Wander through its historic streets and discover the delightful local shops — a perfect way to spend the day.
